We are reminding residents to remain vigilant after a scam letter - TopicsExpress

We are reminding residents to remain vigilant after a scam letter was received by two residents in Princes Risborough in the last month. The letters claim that the resident is the beneficiary to a large sum of money and that they should call the person at the top, based in China, to claim the money. We have become aware of these incidents after two letters were handed into the police station last week. We would urge residents not to fall these times of scams, which generally target elderly and vulnerable members of the community. We believe that if you were to call the number, the offenders will take your bank details and then steal money. Luckily in these incidents, the potential victims were alert and have reported this to the police. If you receive one of these letters, please make sure you report it to us. Anyone with information should contact Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101. If you don’t want to speak directly to the police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
