We got results back from Paulas spay visit this morning. She has tested positive for heartworms, so no spay. We do not know the extent of the infestation so we will be taking her to our vet for further testing which will include xrays and blood draw. At that time we will determine what direction to take. As you know, it is hard to judge just how old she as as she has no teeth, but hopefully these tests will give us a better idea. We are estimating the testing, xrays and treatment will run around $350 alone but this does not include the work needed to be done to her mouth :( We will update you more as we get results. Please keep positive thoughts for Paula that she is not too far gone. She has been a stray for a long time and heartworm is easy to catch in Texas :(
