We got to Lafayette , La. in first of Oct. 1978, Charles George followed me , my wife & kids down there to look for work at the Acadiana Mall they were building at the time. Back then --due to my gift of gab & expertise at framing any thing imaginable with metal studs , it was easy to find work. As we started into the mall , kicking up dust with every step --I asked a fellow did it ever rain there . He looked at me with astonishment in his eyes & asked where the hell I was from -Mars. He then went on to say if you hang around until this drought is over , you won`t ask dumb ass questions like that, something in his voice stopped me from slapping the taste out of his mouth. Charles was low on money (I was too) and left after 2 days, couple weeks later it come a raining , it rained Tennessee gully washer rain, then it rained (I heard later ) La. style rain . I was partnered up with this ole boy that didn`t know shit from shinola about hanging sheetrock ....or life either ,I found out later. We climbed up on our scaffold to hang some rock , I yelled at him to hand me my T-square --a common tool for drywallers to have and use . That coon-ass went over to table where guy was making jigs up for framers & got him to make a T-square out of channel iron , brought it to me proudly here it is Bill , got him to make you one , I said in a calm voice son , you should have just handed me mine . Upon seeing mine --he left me hanging by myself, and showed my custom made T-square to everyone on the job. Here comes the good part , they built that mall over swamp land , but nature has a way of fooling folks --or should I say , the earth moves in mysterious ways. I had been on the job about 3 weeks when they discovered the bodies of 2 young girls ages 16 & 17 , I think . The foreman on the job asked where my partner was , I noticed that Bill was nervous asking me that , I had noticed Bill talking to 2 detectives earlier (trust me -I know what detectives look like) --up comes my partner looking for Bill. I sent him over where Bill was waiting (nervously) as this kid asked for his pay check --they slapped the cuffs on him . He & 3 others had killed those 2 girls & buried them in that swamp about 6 months before they started building that mall , all that heavy equipment caused the bodies to surface .
