We grew up poor and didnt even know it. Except for all the times the other kids wore trendy clothing. I always got new pants and shirts just before school started. Long pants and long sleeved shirts. When it warmed up in the spring Grandma would shorten the pants and the sleeves on the shirt for warm weather wear. Never could afford candy. So... Grandma would take two slices of white bread, spread butter on then and then sprinkle with sugar. Better than candy.
