We had a great time today at the Midwest Artifact Societys - TopicsExpress

We had a great time today at the Midwest Artifact Societys meeting/outing at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate in Independence, Missouri. This was the second time our club had been back to hunt the grounds. This estate saw A LOT of history. A break road to the main portion of the Santa Fe Trail runs right across the property. It was the site of a Civil War battle (the Second Battle of Independence) and saw a lot of characters from the Old West stop by for a visit. A nice bunch of artifacts were found by club members that will go on display at the museum inside the main house, including a spur and a stirrup, both from about 1880, a locket from the early 1900s and more. One of our members is a school teacher and he won first pick of the raffle items. Instead of picking up a silver half dollar, he chose a small Riker box filled with Missouri Civil War bullets. He asked me to ID them for him so he could share them with his students. A shout out to all history teachers! YOU ROCK!!!
