We had a pot luck today at work for Thanksgiving and everyone had to say what they were thankful for. Lots of typical answers, my job, my family, kids, good health, things that a lot of people take for granted. Mine was little different this year. I think I am most thankful for tolerance and acceptance. I am so fortunate to have coworkers and family and friends who love and embrace me for being me. I dont have to fake it for anybody. Of course I can clean up good and know what remarks and behaviors are appropriate at the appropriate times. However for the most part these days I am more of my authentic self than I ever have been in my entire life. Im thankful for my lifes journey that has brought me to this point in my life. I understand that for some I am an acquired taste, but those people are vastly outnumbered by the number of people who seem to love the real me. So in short I am thankful for the opportunity to just relax and be myself. I wish everyone could achieve this level of self awareness. You aint gotta please nobody but yourself in life. Any other efforts are waste of your precious time and energy that could be spent enjoying life.
