We had a safe trip. Our diagnosis is 1) Atopic Dermatitis 2) Keratosis Pilaris What are those words? What do they mean? Well, he has eczema and dry skin. He was tested by 17 scratches that the nurse assured me did not hurt but I wasnt convinced since he winced and screamed bloody murder with all 17 scratches! The good news is he isnt allergic, to pollen, dander, ragweed, dairy or any other foods. The not so good news is that we will have to deal with this skin issue forever, most likely. She instructed me to bathe him in dove unscented body wash/soap, pat him dry and then apply Vaseline to lock in the moisture. She says the redness means his skin is dry and sensitive and that over time after applying the Vaseline, the redness should diminish much more. The raised areas of skin, little white bumps are not infected and thats a good thing. So, basically Im going to have a greasy baby scooting around the house. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!
