We had our Pre-Synod conference today and the following are among the questions delegates and attendees were asked to begin to think about in preparation for Synod. Kindly give us your own feedback. It is much appreciated. God bless. 1) What is the Dream? Start by talking out your dream of what the diocese should be in 5 or 10 or 15 years. What’s the big picture or goal? How would you describe a win in 5, 10, 15 years? What are you aiming for? This should be laid out without concerns for resources, etc. It’s dreaming God’s big dream for His Church in Belize. We’ll figure it out how later. 2) Where are we now? Then we come back to the present and do an environmental assessment. Essentially we look both at the diocese, the churches in the diocese, the personnel you have on the field, the external factors that are in play, opportunities that could be lived into, threats that exist in your context. This will take some time but if we don’t know where we are we won’t know how to move forward. 3) What is the GAP? Clearly define the GAP between where we are and where we want to be. Revisit the vision to see if it needs to be tweaked and then define the major areas that we need to address. 4) What do we need to do? What are the Critical Path Steps that we need to pay attention to in order to close the gap? These will become key strategies – major focus areas that we’ll want to flesh out with specific tactics and milestones. 5) What are our Action Items? This is the list of tasks and milestones that we will take out of our time together to start working on so that we can move forward. 6) What resources are needed? Once we know our strategies then we’ll want to nail down the resources that are needed in order to do what we need to do. Once these are clearly articulated then we can start to pray and work towards getting those resources put in place.
