We have all heard the saying everyone makes mistakes. The key isnt so much that we make mistakes but what we do after we realize we have done so. It seems to be a part of human nature to blame shift our mistakes to other people. We deny we did anything wrong, then we defend why we did what we did, and then we ultimately shoot the proverbial messenger who tries to tell us we did something wrong even when theyre trying to help us. It seems we learned this behavior from our first parents Adam and Eve. When confronted by God having eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, their response is to blame shifting to someone else rather than taking responsibility for their own actions. Accepting responsibility and 100% accountability for your choices and your actions and their consequences is a key step to repentance and to living a life free from the burden of repressed guilt. Admitting your mistakes is part of the process of repentance. Its also required to relieve the guilt that can keep you burdened and out of relationship with God and other people. God uses people who makes mistakes. God will use you and forgive you when you own up to your mistakes. Thats were thinking about today.
