We have an opening in our Agroecology Program for an Assistant in Extension in Ornamental Horticulture. This full-time (12 month, 100% Extension) position is a year-to-year academic professional appointment in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences stationed at the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension in Phoenix, AZ. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Urban Horticulture/Agroecology Program and will work to help the public select, plant and properly maintain appropriate landscape plants and practice stewardship of water and other natural resources. Duties and Responsibilities: * Plan, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate the ornamental horticulture program in Maricopa County. * Work with the general public, commercial landscape professionals and Master Gardener volunteers to identify and develop solutions to problems in the ornamental plant landscape. * Conduct and evaluate regular diagnostic sessions for the public. * Organize, conduct and evaluate training sessions in various topics related to ornamental horticulture. * Answer phone calls and email inquiries related to ornamental horticulture. * Develop classroom and online curriculum. * Plan, implement and evaluate field research. * Conduct site visits to commercial landscapes. * Represent University of Arizona Horticulture/Agroecology program interests at local, state and national venues as appropriate. * Prepare reports and technical bulletins.
