We have had an email from one of our followers about a scam... Yesterday, my mum was the victim of a truly evil scam that almost stripped her of the contents of all of her bank accounts and ISAs In summary: The policecalled her and informed her that there had been some rather large purchases from her account and that it was a gang of scammers. My Mum, being the savvy lady that she is listened carefully and said she would give no further details until she checked that this was bonafide. She put the phone down and used an upstairs phone to call 999. She was put throughto someone who reassured her that the named CID was indeed bonafide and that it was safe to put her trust in him. They talked my mum into getting a cab(£90) up to Selfridges and purchasing a £11k Rolex watch with full intentions of either snatching it off her or trying to get her to courier it over. They were encouraging her to buy several watches on the pretense that she was helping the police and that the scammers were in the store. Luckily Selfridges are aware of this scan and the fraud officer came to my mums aid. These people are so convincing. My poor mum is devastated and so shaken by this , she also feels stupid as when she looks back over the day, all the signs were there but they rushed her and really convinced her that she was helping the police They had her move all her ISAs into her current account and it was their intention to get her to spend the lot and steal the purchases . My reason for this long status is to get you all to warn everyone you know about this scam. They obviously stayed on the phone and pretended to be the 999 centre . As I mentioned before, my mum is far from stupid and if they got her to do all this, it could happen to someone you know /care about. Please let all your friends and family know
