We have our first General Assembly (GA) for all our members will be Monday October 21st, in room 4D.17. Thats tomorrow! We are going to have representatives from the JNDQ (Jeune Neo-Democrates de Quebec) come and join us, help with the election process and help help initiate the club into the fine workings of the NDP. The club and its constitution have already been accepted by the JNDQ and now just up to us to elect executives, gather more members, plan events and have debates. The NDP has been really supportive so far and is quite impressed that we have been able to get this club off the ground and that all of you are interested! If you happen to know anyone else who expresses interest, feel free to have them contact us, that would be awesome! The main focus of this General Assembly is to elect and form the team of executives that will help this club move along. There are various positions you can run for. > 2 Co-presidents (of which one must self-identify as a female) > VP-Administration (secretary) > VP-Finance (treasurer) > VP-Organization (Events Co-ordinator) > VP-Communication (Press Co-ordinator) > VP-Politics and statuses advisor (person in charge of all political matters, rhetoric, writing of resolutions and making sure that we stick to our constitution. This is a super important position!) > VP- Executive sin portfolio, who basically doesnt not have a specific outline of what their job is, but has an equal vote and equal position on the executive, and is there to help out. Members who are not executive also play a big role in being part of the club, part of the debates and part of the ideas. The executive just represents the larger group of members, and helps to put their ideas into action. When the meeting comes, we will ask you to be nominated, or to nominate yourself if you are interested in one of these positions. That being said, you MUST be at the meeting if you want to hold one of these positions. If you are interested in running but are not able to attend this meeting, then please tell us immediately. It is really important that everyone who wants to run has the chance to be able to. As well, if there is more than one of you who runs for this position, youll have to make a quick speech about yourself and why people should vote for you. We are really looking forward to working with all of you! Tell us if you can come to the meeting, and please do come to the next meeting with an idea of what youd like to talk about this semester as well as some Dawson-wide event that we can host before the semester runs out.
