We have received some pictures of hail up to 2 inches in diameter that fell Tuesday afternoon about 10 miles east of Black Butte Ranch in northern Deschutes county. Hail covered the ground to a depth of nearly 2 inches. The pictures were taken about 15 minutes after the hail fell, so the hail had shrunk somewhat due to melting. Even then, a few were nearly as large as the big toe in the first picture. The siding on his house has dents up to a quarter inch deep. The last picture shows fog trying to form due to moisture evaporating from the hail. Pictures courtesy of Mark DiNucci.
