We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Just a - TopicsExpress

We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Just a little over a week ago, we were blessed by the marriage of our daughter to a wonderful man. It was a day that was perfect in every way. Joey and I reminisced all week about what a wonderful day it was. We quickly got into our routine of Netflix binging every chance we got and fell asleep in our recliners almost every night. We spoke often of our blessings. This past Saturday, as Sarah and Chase were traveling home from their honeymoon in Key West, Joey and his friend Mike decided to get out on their motorcycles for a few hours. Joey asked me if I wanted to ride but I told him to go on and enjoy. I had some things I wanted to do before Sarah and Chase returned home, such as delivering more gifts to their house and making sure everything was just right when they got home. I did everything I planned on doing, got a little lunch and was settling down to watch some football when my phone rang. It was Joey..He said, Dont freak out, Im ok, but I just got in an accident. Can you come get me? Time stood still. Needless to say, it felt like it took forever to get to him! As I sat waiting for the light to change at the corner of 84 and the Circle, I could see the blue lights, Joeys bike, and people standing around. I found it hard to breath. Again, because of traffic, it seemed like it took forever to get to him! The words Im okay kept going through my head. Anyone who knows Joey knows that he is not an alarmist and that it is his nature to downplay things. He always looks on the positive side of things and NEVER wants to worry anyone. Very thankfully, God saw fit to shield Joey from what could have been much worse, unthinkable. He has two broken ribs, a cracked bone in his hand and scrapes and bruises. And, although his injuries are painful, we know they could have been so much worse. For the time being, Joey is spending the majority of his time resting in his recliner, as it is too painful to get up and down out of the bed. My heart is so full of gratitude tonight. The man that I have loved most of my life is okay. He is currently sound asleep in the recliner and says he is feeling better tonight. Without a doubt, Gods hand of protection was over my precious husband on Saturday. I will forever be grateful to Him. Please keep Joey in your prayers as he continues to heal. And, one more thing, watch out for motorcycles, please.
