We have to share Dede & Deltas story as we feel very passionate here at Cavy Savvy when it comes to Micro pigs (or Lethals as they are generally known) Micro pigs are generally born with severe deformities including blindness, internal damage, deaf & lack of teeth, and if they are lucky to survive the birth process, many will not live past 2/3 years due to their disabilities. Without lots of support and care, many will not live at all. Microphthalmia is COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE !! Indiscriminate breeding practices by allowing Roans or Dalmations to breed have a 25% ( 1 in 4) chance of producing a Micro Pig. SIGNS OF A LETHAL Lethal guinea pigs a born with one or more of the following deformities and symptoms. * Born dead or dies within a few weeks of birth * Always born white * Born blind in one or both eyes * Born with no eyes * Born deaf in one or both ears * Born with unpigmented eyes * Mild to severe teeth deformities/missing teeth. * Low immune system * Permanent internal damage Thanks to Auckland Cavy Care for sharing Dede & Deltas story.
