We heard this great story from one of our partner programs Hopelink: We had one client that came into our Shoreline office stating she was about to be evicted and just lost her unemployment. She said that she looked into shelters as a way to prepare for the inevitable, but could not find one that would take a single person and a dog. Our receptionist went into referral mode and got the potential client signed up to meet our Emergency Service Specialist for eviction prevention and emergency appointment because utilities had been shut off. We also lined her up with an appointment with our employment department and then signed her up for food bank. Within two weeks, this client’s lights were back on, her rent was paid, she and her dog have food, and she’s had two job interviews. The client also signed up for free classes at Shoreline Community College after seeing a flyer on one of our lobby resource boards.
