We live in a time when everyone wants to have and live a life that is not their own. The irony in that is that those who appear to have a perfect life because of wealth, social status, popularity, talent, beauty, etc. also have their own demons. I had a long, beautiful three-hour conversation with a friend on Saturday. He was checking up on me because he sensed that I may have needed him. The topic of suicide came up in our conversation. I think its a thought that flashes through the minds of those in despair. At the end of the conversation, I realized that we needed each other. There are so many people struggling and it transcends race and class. People are unhappy with who they are and where they are in their lives. I thank God for helping me make peace with my past and continue to learn and grow from my challenges instead of internalizing them. I think we all need to pray for those who we know are suffering and give them our ears, shoulder and compassion. It could be the difference between life and death. Be blessed beautiful people. :-)
