We may well have a sustainable economy Joe, but what about a sustainable ENVIRONMENT? JOE HOCKEY: Well, our economy is undergoing change. Weve had a massive mining boom, and the mining boom has, ah, involved a huge amount of resources for construction of new mines and gas projects, and so on. Ah, now - we are into the production phase ah, so we’re exporting our socks off in coal, in gas, in iron ore, ah, so that requires, obviously, far less labour... ... And thats exactly what were focusing on. We’re re-shift - shifting resources from mining and gas, ah, into new areas of the economy that help to grow the pie. And, ah, frankly, it is a transition, but that means well have sustainable growth into the future, and like New Zealand, well capture the huge trading opportunities in the Asian region that lie before us.
