We must Make (create) Peace….. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God. First let me say that I write this devotional with much conviction and soul searching of my own life. We are all guilty of making our voice and our agenda heard, but God has not called us to spread the news about who we are or how we have been wronged….. but to spread the Gospel “good news” of Jesus Christ. Man made things cannot compare to the things made and crafted by God Genesis 1 tells about creation, what amazes me is that God did not mold and make each thing with his hands, He simply spoke it and it was. God said "Let their be light"..... For any man made creation man cannot just speak it into existence, he must put his hand to it. No matter how great his idea, man must work at making it a creation. Peace is the same way and the scripture says we are blessed if we are peace makers. Christ is the Peace Speaker. Mark 4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. When He speaks there is peace…no effort on His part. However, as carnal men and women we must work to "make" peace with those around us. Sometimes the answer is to approach them, other times the answer is to avoid them if we know that we will only make matters worse and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us when the time is right. However, the point is we must make peace. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb, but through years of trial and error he perfected the invention of the light bulb by the filament that he used on the inside of the bulb, and finally after many failures (said to be over 1000) he got it right. Again the key to perfecting the light was the filament that he used on the inside of the bulb. Light bulbs were before Edison, but he perfected them. Christ has called us to be light….we must let Christ work through us so that we get our filament right on the “inside” of our bulb. Psalm 34:14 depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it. Just like Edison we must not give up on finding peace with each other. It may take 1000 different smiles till one day that person realizes “I may as well settle this”. Romans 12:9-18 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men…..Keep changing filaments till you get it right!!!! Let your light shine!!!
