We must always keep ourselves submitted to the Holy Spirit for evaluation and to receive necessary instructions for change that He knows we need, whether we agree with Him or not. A warning sign to watch for is; “When truth or instruction comes, the moment we begin to resist, the moment our mind starts to say ‘No’, STOP!” Stop what you’re doing, keep your mouth shut! Go back and honestly recall the Word that you know. Ask the Holy Spirit to confirm that truth to you! Double check yourself for resistance and then recall the consequences for disobedience! Now ask yourself, “Am I willing to directly disobey God, right here in front of Him?” THEN ask the Lord to forgive you for resisting His truth and ask the Holy Spirit for the boldness to submit to God to His the truth! Don’t ask Him to humble you! YOU humble yourself to requirements of that truth and obey it to demonstrate your submission. Remember, God knows your heart, whether your doing it out of love and sincerity or if you’re doing it ‘kickin n screamin’ on the inside! No matter who the truth comes through, it originates from the Holy Spirit-the ‘Spirit of Truth’! Even if it’s someone you don’t necessarily ‘like’, He is most likely using these people as an additional test of another truth-Mat.5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Is this a direct instruction of Christ? Is this some crazy notion from someone you’re in conflict with OR did this come from the Holy Spirit? Once again, “Are we going to directly disobey this instruction while right in front of Him?” Review the following: John 14:17 “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 15:26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” This is the way to truly keep ourselves walking in the truth, walking in the ‘Spirit’ of Truth!
