We reach these short moments in our lives -more often than we may - TopicsExpress

We reach these short moments in our lives -more often than we may care to realize- where we have a moment to break away and shed our status as just another face in the crowd. To push up from the water and catch a taste of the air we so desperately desire. It is in these moments, where (quite subconsciously) we decide. The majority makes a split second decision that the outside scares them, and they would be safer inside. Before they even get to realize what theyve rejected they have already returned to the current and all realization of achievement becomes just a tickle, a whisper in the back of their minds, as they go on struggling to break free again some day. The second majority reaches their moment and takes it. They leap free of the crushing depths and find themselves on solid ground, alone. As they become more aware of their situation, they desperately begin trying to go back. They realize that what was outside was not what they thought, and panic to find themselves back on the other side. If they finally do return, they become unsettled, and before long realize that theyd given up a grand prize. Those who are the remainder in this metaphor are the ones who make it through. As they view the outside with awe, they see a beautiful world around them. A veritable oasis of which they are the sole owner. They view the landscape with wonder and amazement because they are seeing it as no one before them has, it is different, and fantastically so. They spend their lives envied by the faceless crowds for their willingness to stand apart from the safety of the river. -An original writing by yours truly.
