High Five! 24 Diner Celebrates Milestone Anniversary AUSTIN – Nov. 20, 2014 – On Dec. 1, 24 Diner will celebrate its five-year anniversary! From its inception in 2009, the downtown hotspot has been dedicated to providing chef-inspired comfort food 24 hours a day, crafted using quality ingredients sourced from other local operations whenever possible and prepared to the meticulous standards of CIA-trained Executive Chef/Partner Andrew Curren. Following on the heels of the diner’s success, parent company ELM Restaurant Group launched two other popular Austin restaurants (Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden and Arro), with a fourth concept opening in early 2015, an Italian eatery named ITALIC. “One of the founding principles of the ELM Restaurant Group is to support the local food community through their restaurant purchases,” explains John Lash of Farm to Table, an Austin distribution company specializing in locally grown farm products. “Since opening 24 Diner nearly five years ago, ELM restaurants have spent more than $325,000 on produce from local farmers, ranchers and food artisans, including nearly 5,000 pounds of baby arugula from Animal Farm, more than 1 ton of organic citrus from G&S Groves, 6,000 pounds of heirloom tomatoes from McCall Creek Farms, 600 bunches of green garlic from Milagro Farm, 2,000 pounds of spinach from Oak Hill Farms and 8,000 pounds of homegrown tomatoes from various farmers. That translates into almost 20,000 cheese plates! We appreciate the collaboration in an effort to support the artisanal cheese industry, as well as their role in keeping our Austin business thriving.
