We werent welcome in the Tahlequah Homeschool Group... Im so naive to have thought that groups such as this were here to support and help new & ongoing homeschoolers and to help provide social opportunities, support, and foster a spirit of community among fellow homeschoolers. However, we, being my 4 & 5 year old are not welcome in this group because when we made the choice to homeschool I allowed my 2 older children- a 14 year old freshman & 16 year old Junior to remain in public school. This group clearly would not meet my needs as I am looking for a group with good values and accepting to those trying to find their way on this new homeschool journey, not an elitist group who finds opportunities to exclude young homeschooled children. I just need to find some other homeschool or partial homeschool families in the surrounding area and we can start our own group- that welcomes & supports all families, no matter their make up.
