Weather Report from Eskeys Ridge.... Ms. Summer returns! She came - TopicsExpress

Weather Report from Eskeys Ridge.... Ms. Summer returns! She came walking down the yard just pretty as you please a few days ago. Her long, black-as-a-crows- wing hair swaying behind her, brushing against the freshly mown grass. I sat in the porch swing and watched her come... It was too hot to do more than call out, Welcome to the swing, Ms. Summer! She laughed as she settled next to me. I took a deep breath and smiled. You smell like honeysuckle. And that quick I was taken back to the place and time where the old folks called this Dog Days... Days too hot to do much more than sit on the porch and let the white hot day just pass along. My great-aunt, Fanny, had a wrap around porch and I can just see her... straw hat off her head and in her hand moving the heavy air just a bit to create a breeze across her face. Everything Aunt Fan put in the ground grew with total abandon - every year her garden was a masterpiece. I recall her hands - - not the hard, tough hands you might expect - - but slender with tapered long fingers... an artists hands. She loved these hot, sultry days and nights... I heard many stories about family sitting on that porch. These days I sit on my own porch and share stories with my little family. And I think of Aunt Fan with the hands of an artist but the soul of a gardener. Lordy me, how I miss all of them! But I hold their voices in my hearts ear. I love you, Aunt Fan.... Early to rise now. Have to beat Ms. Summer and her hot, hot sun ball... But Ill take the easy laughter I recall from Aunt Fans porch with me today. Love out to all yall. Maybe you can study up someone to carry in your heart today. Love, love and love... And peace to you, as well.... xoxo SK
