Weather update: as of noon, Wednesday 2/12 NOTE: Subject to change unexpectedly. This is a very unpredictable storm with a line of rain/freezing rain/snow striping right across our region. It will all be over and melting on Friday. It is very cold outside right now, and they still predict a moderate to major snowstorm for the D.C. metro region with 3-6 inches of snow (a conservative estimate) falling tonight across the region – starting between 7 and 10 p.m. By Thursday morning, snow begins to mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain (or plain rain towards southern Maryland and our Gaylord National Harbor area) from east to west. Locations in western Fairfax and Montgomery counties and farther west likely see less mixing, and may remain mostly snow. During the afternoon Thursday, locations getting mixed precipitation are likely to change back to snow from west to east, with precipitation tapering off towards early evening. Total snowfall accumulations are likely to be 5-10 inches in the immediate metro region, with southern Maryland and towards the Chesapeake Bay in lesser amounts of 2-6 inches are most likely. Again, all major roads will be salted, so it should be clear to get here once the snowing has stopped, but BE CAREFUL OF ICE, and not just your car, like in shaded areas of sidewalks and such. DONT GET HURT! We care about you. We get sad if you get hurt. DO NOT MAKE US SAD.
