Wed like to acknowledge FNUniv Faculty members Dr. Carrie Bourassa, Professor, Indigenous Health Studies and Dr. Lesley McBain, Associate Professor, Indigenous Studies who are part of the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA) initiative that was announced yesterday by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in Montreal, Quebec. This national initiative is aimed at tackling the growing onset of dementia and related illnesses and improving the lives of Canadians with these illnesses, as well as their families and caregivers. The important research the CCNA is undertaking will benefit from Carrie and Lesley’s expertise, insight and knowledge of Indigenous people and communities as well as their previous research.
