Wednesday 7th May 2014 another inquiry Rasin The Bougainville House of Representative Parliamentary Sectoral and Advisory Committee on Education, Health and HIV Aids is preparing to conduct an Inquiry. According to the Chairperson of the Committee, Joan Jerome, the inquiry will look into Bougainville Student issues in Tertiary Institutions in the East New Britain Province and selected vocational schools in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. This follows two petitions submitted to the House of Representatives by the North Nasioi Women’s Group and Halia Youths. Ms Jerome says the petitions highlighted issues relating to the tragic MV Rabaul Queen incident in the waters of Morobe province, and the Autonomous Bougainville government to vacate the Buka Open Campus office complex which is currently being used as the Bougainville Parliament. Ms Jerome says the inquiry will involve onsite visits, public forums and public hearings in selected Tertiary Institutions in and outside Bougainville. She says this inquiry will shed light on a lot of issues faced by Bougainville students studying in other provinces of Papua New Guinea, and will also find ways to minimize or even solve these problems. One possible way of minimizing these problems was to establish institutions in Bougainville. Mrs Jerome is now calling on the public to participate in the inquiry through information sharing and help in the education sector for the future generations. The inquiry should have began yesterday with phase one and will end on the 14th of this month. Ends
