Wednesday: What is the Spirit speaking to you? Dallas Willard - TopicsExpress

Wednesday: What is the Spirit speaking to you? Dallas Willard (in his book Hearing God) wrote that there are 3 lights that help us hear the still, small voice of the Lord: the Spirit, the Word and the Opportunities He opens for us. God also uses the words of others to speak into our lives. Over the next few days, take time in prayer to notice how each of those lights might help you hear where the Lord is trying to lead you. Remember: even though these four things are helpful, that doesnt mean God will always tell us exactly what were supposed to do. We are not puppets to Him; we are his children. He is not looking to give us step-by-step instructions for every little thing we do. He wants us to learn to live in the framework of His will, growing up and maturing in our faith...trusting Him. Wednesday: In your prayer time, spend some time worshiping the Lord. Then prayerfully consider each area that you are seeking Gods direction with. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you in each area. After your time of prayer, consider this question: What is the Spirit speaking to you? In other words, is there a passion or enthusiasm that the Lord has been stirring in your heart today - or in recent weeks or months? Is there an area of restlessness or Holy discontent in your life? Is there a burden for a person, people group or cause that seems to grip you? Is there an area of your life that Gods been trying to get your attention in? Have there been moments of conviction about changes you need to make? Have you sensed a longing for impact? Is there a growing desire to make a difference? Are you certain that you are working, serving, worshiping, giving, loving, living, (etc.) in ways that honor Jesus? Once again, what is the Spirit speaking to you?
