Wednesday Where-is-it answer! This is Primary Fly Control, or Pri-Fly. This is basically like the control tower of an airport, or in this case the HORNET, with a spectacular view of the Flight Deck. Personnel working in Pri-Fly are responsible for the operation of the Flight Deck and all air traffic within a five mile radius of the ship. The instrument panel for the Fresnel light landing system is located in the Pri-Fly as well. The Fresnel light landing system provides the pilot a visual reference of his aircrafts position in relation to the proper landing glide path. The angle of the Fresnel light is adjusted to match the aircraft type currently on final approach. Fun Fact: The large red arrow and numbers in one of the photos below shows the wind speed across the flight deck. It is set manually by the Pri-Fly crew as needed.
