Week six roundup NURIOOTPA BOWLING CLUB Once again, the Midweek competitions produced a mixed bag of results with our ladies losing all rinks, to the Angaston side, Gold beating Angaston White by 11, Green losing to Tanunda White, Blue enduring a similar fate at the hands of some familiar faces from Eudunda and Black succumbing to the Angaston Blue Brigade, despite an armchair ride which enabled a +4 shot result to Geoff Langley. Saturdays Pennants saw a satisfying victory to the Fighting Firsts who were able to best Tanunda by 13 shots; 2 rinks up, a tied result to Bob Randalls rink and a loss to Wayne Williams which was precipitated by his dropping a rather nasty EIGHT early in the match! Our Second division teams were less successful with the Green Machine the only winning side. Greenies, Sean Hyland and Neil Collyer both enjoyed 7 shot victories while Peter Buckley just failed to overcome a 6 shot deficit. Although looking the goods at tea, Golds fell away to hand a 6 shot win to Eudunda with Neville Nolan being the only successful Nuri Gold skipper on the day. The Black combine had a disappointing, 3 shot loss to Freeling despite Heather Roberts 9 shot victory. Thirds fell short to Eudunda by a meager 6 bowls. Newish skipper, Peter Hughes enjoyed a 3 shot win while Keith Semmler and Ronda Blaser had narrow losses by 2 & 7, respectively. Meanwhile the curse of reverse appears to be spreading to even the elite of our organisation! Such young heroes as Roger Mattchoss, Colin Hughes, Denise Baker, Chris Forbes (x 2), Alby Wilkinson and even the guru of swing, Geoff Langley, have been witnessed practicing this dubious maneuver during the past few days. All aspiring champions are asked to nominate without delay for singles and pairs as the draw will be made on November 30th with no late entries being accepted. Please remember Christmas will be celebrated in the Tigers Den with a traditional dinner on December 14th, 7 for 7.30; names and numbers on the board please! OLD AND BOWLED
