Weekend of 20th December Mavericks went off! Since a kid, living on the other side of the pacific ocean in little old New Zealand, Mavericks intrigued me, such a legendary wave held with a mystical respect. The first thing I did when I moved here was take off to Pillar point to check out where this wave comes to life in the big winter swells. On Dec 20th, a childhood dream came true and saw the beast in action. I was under resourced with gear, only a 200mm lens, no tripod and the weather was gloomy and misty but I didnt care, I was just super happy being there... With these photos, I had to post process, made them a little grainy to help with the poor light....I like em...Cant wait for a better day and hoping to get on a boat for closer action shots.
