Welcome to Chi-Ride! A Facebook page dedicated to following Jimmy & Michael on our Motorcycle Adventures. Were two Brother-in-Laws from Chicago who recently discovered our passion for Motorcycles. After talking about motorcycles and wouldnt it be nice moments at numerous family functions, they decided it was time to put-up or shut-up. Last Summer (2013), they each went out and bought their own Motorcycle. Jimmy, a bit more of an experienced rider bought a Honda Shadow 1100 and Michael, a first time rider bough a Honda Shadow 750 ACE. After a few summer months of riding the back roads in Wisconsin, we were hooked. During the 2013/14 brutal Chicago winter with endless snow and record setting lows, a plan was hatched. Jimmy came to Michael with an idea... Originally from Alabama, his family is going to be throwing a 4th of July Party in Eufaula, AL. What if you come with me and we ride our motorcycles down to Alabama for the 4th? The timing was impeccable. Michael was in the process of watching The Long Way Around, a wonderful series featuring Charley Boorman and Ewan Mcgregor attempting to ride from London, UK to New York, New York by Motorcycle. The decision was made, lets ride. Since that conversation, the journey has elaborately evolved to say the least. What was originally a motorcycle ride to Eufaula, AL for a family get together is now a magnificent adventure from Chicago to New Orleans following the mighty Mississippi River on the Great River Road. The trip will start in Chicago and take us all the way down the Mississippi. - We will go through great cities like St Louis, Memphis, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. - After hitting the Gulf of Mexico, well head east through Mobile, and from there we will begin our journey North, arriving in Eufaula, AL for the 4th of July. - Once the festivities die down, we will continue North through Auburn, historic Selma AL, hitting the Appalachian Highway all the way to Chattanooga TN. - On the Home Stretch, we will visit Nashville, Fort Knox, Louisville, and finally all the way up through Indiana on our way back home - Chicago IL.
