Welcome to Moloundou After a grueling 5-hour journey over bad roads covering a distance of 215 km we finally made it to the far easternmost town of Moloundou. The town of Moloundou lies at the confluence of the Dja and Bpimba Rivers and Moloundou it becomes known as the Ngoko River which constitutes the boundary between Cameroon and the Congo Republic. The Ngoko then meets with the Sangha River at a Congolese town called Ouesso and flows down stream to meet he Congo River. The narrow strip of land along the right bank of the Sangha River all the way to the Congo River used to be part of German Kamerun until WWI When we arrived Moloundo we went to check on the sous-prefet to pay him a courtesy visit and to explain to him who we were and what we had come to do. The Chairman asked Dominic and myself to go and handle that. But we were told that the sous-prefet was not around. But we later learned that he simply did not want to meet us and have to deal with complicated problems of giving us the authorisation to an "opposant" to have a public meeting. The sous-prefet was afraid that if he gives us an authorisation, he might get into trouble. We decided to go the Ngoko River and just dip our feet into the River. When we satisfied ourselves, we took off heading back to Bertoua.
