Well I have been going through tough times recently.. but that wont deter me from taking up this challenge.. Roshnee Neelabjo Maitraya and Swagata all three of your book selections contain a multitude of genres.. indeed i have read many of them.. all of them are i am sure really good.. however i know it might come as a surprise to many of you guys.. but a great part of my childhood years were spent reading rather ravishing bengali story book.. people my personal opinion.. most of us bangalis have an intrinsic knack for storytelling.. cutting the long speech short.. heres my list: 1. Rajorshi.. All short stories of golpoguchho specially kabuliwala.. and sooo many other works by the great nobel laureate Rabindranath tagore. 2. Srikanto.. Ramer sumoti.. abhagir swarga and many other stories by saratchandra chattopadhyay 3. All the stories of thakurmar jhuli, bhuter golpor sonkolpos and eshops fables and other compiled short stories ghst i bought every year from the maidan wala book fair and read every single day in my childhood.. specially the ones involving petnis n mamdobhuts n bromhodoityos.. loved em 4. Pather pachali by bibhutibhushan bandyopadhyay and the film too.. legendary work by satyajit ray 5. Goshaibagan er bhooth.. hirer angti by shirshendu mukhopadhyay and many wonderful stories given in the Shuktara magazine which was a must buy for me before pujas.. Well now shifting back to english 6. The night train at deoli by ruskin bond, The rattrap by selma lägerhoff.. and many other short stories.. 7. Oliver twist by Charles dickens 8. Goosebumps by R.l.Stine 9. The invisible man by H.G.Wells 10. Harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban and all other books of this series.. though this one stands out.. Well after having the patience to glance through all this you might be wondering why I gave bengali literature such importance.. Its coz i can relate to the cultures and the mindset they portray.. not that english literature is much different.. but bangla is something close to my heart.. it always will be.. i am no expert in either language.. but i love both equally..also i wanted to include shakespeare.. dont get me wrong.. the stories are wonderful.. just deciphering the entire dialect was too cumbersome for me..Charles and Mary Lamb and Coles notes did a wonderful job :D Now as for nominees.. its an open game people.. however many have not tried Sid Ghosh Sourodip Ghoshdastidar Rajdeep DuttaRajdeep Roy Geetanjali Koley Chandrima Ghosh
