Well, I see the Senate Democrats voted down the Keystone XL - TopicsExpress

Well, I see the Senate Democrats voted down the Keystone XL pipeline. Not that Im particularly surprised. So, heres what this tells me: Even despite the results of the recent elections, and the fact the American voters essentially displayed their utter disdain for this current administration and Congress, these Democrats refuse to budge. This is a project that would have created between 30,000 and 50,000 new jobs in an anemic economy, and would have given our economy a little shot in the arm. Now I realize that most of the jobs would be temporary, but they would be jobs, nonetheless. Now, lets look at some of the economic benefits: There would be many permanent jobs created. They would have to have people that monitor and maintain the pipeline, and people to handle the crude oil when it gets to Texas. Theyd have to pay a multitude of property owners a handsome fee for an easement to come through their property, and once the pipeline is installed, those property owners would never even know it was there. Now, it wouldnt really help our dependency on foreign oil, because, from My understanding, the oil would be earmarked for export, but with this additional oil coming in, it would also create more jobs by the oil companies that are dealing with it. Now, from what Ive seen, the major opposition is based upon its environmental impact. WHAT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT? They dig a trench, bury a pipe, cover it up, and re-vegetate the land. What in the hell does that hurt?!!
