Well .. THAT was one cold Date with Dobby ..yet all I can say is that is was Brutally BEAUTIFUL. I had to keep coming in to warn up, like every 10 min so it made my search less than strategic (darn Earth keeps moving you know) I was able to spot LoveJoy with my Binoculars within 30 minutes...Yet Dobby was reluctant to give us his light bucket secrets. I was determined NOT to use any tracking helps or apps. I called on the powers of my tetrad (best $40 dollars I EVER spent in my life) and the coordinates of the comet.. there in my view finder right after moonrise.. LOVEJOY. Sweet green snow ball. I yelped when I found the comet...making the dogs in the neighborhood bark back at me. I so so so wish I had the equipment to had photographed her and keep her image always. Proof of my hard work and tenacity!! Sigh. I did snap a shot of Wolf Moon.. and of Jupiter, one of 4 galilean moons at his side.. and the remarkable part of that is its my iPhone snapping the pics thru the view finder of my telescope! LoveJoy was too faint.. but I did SO try. It was 18 degrees when I finally came in.. and with the wind chill..made it 4 degrees. I worshiped...gosh I did!! And prayed for any man or beast having to endure the cold tonight..
