Well everyone, here we are a few days before Christmas and what a gift we have all received in being a part of this extreme act of goodness. Givers. Prayers. Family. Friends. All vital cogs in a wheel that ultimately saw Paul airlifted home today. Because of the fragile nature of Pauls health-he became unstable due to blood management issues and infection- it seemed best to just dig in and share the news upon arrival. In addition to Pauls health situation, a doc had to be secured, a bed needed to be available, arrangements made for a private flight, house closed up, school situated for Rebecca... all of this while Christmas was looming. Plans were made and suspended numerous times. And then finally on Tuesday, Paul stabilized and we hit the ground hard to book flight, confirm bed etc. The administration was endless. So... with that, we elected to wait on sharing news until wheels were down in St. Johns. Paul is now resting comfortably at Health Sciences Centre in a private room. He has been accepted into Dr. OBriens care and staff at hospitals in Hamilton and St. Johns have been remarkable. As you can imagine, Carolyn and Rebecca are exhausted.... but so grateful. They flew with Paul and will now take the next steps to settling in. In the weeks and months ahead, they will need us more than ever. And I know Newfoundland is up for it.
