Well for those of you who dont know, I officially joined the golden years crowd. Wednesday morning woke up to a dizzy spell. Over the course of the morning it got progressively worse. With the encouragement of friends and my lovely wife, I went to South Baldwin Medical Center here in Gulf Shores. E R staff was pretty much in agreement with me that it was inner ear infection as both ears were red and looked inflamed. a half hour into the exam my pulse dropped to 30 and lost consciousness. Great E R staff and meds I was back awake in no time. Diagnosis was 3rd degree electrical pulse heart block [not to be confused with a heart blockage]. After a night on the monitor and several more smaller drops, a pacemaker was HIGHLY suggested. The procedure was quite simple and after a few hours of tweaking it with adjustments Im home [snowbird home]. I had an ultra sound,CT scan, and risk factor test on the ticker and everything was in good working order with a 2.4 in heart disease risk factor. Looking back there were some small hints something was not quite right, but ignored. Thanks for all the well wishes and support for us from friends and our great kids who drove down to be with us.
