Well good morning and a happy Monday morning to all you wonderful folk. Come on now cheer up, Monday is not so bad. Hey, only ten more days till “Christmas” Day. You know that day we Christians have set aside to celebrate the day that God took on human flesh and blood through the virgin birth of Mary. And just why would God, the creator of heaven, earth, and mankind lay aside His Godly attributes and take on flesh, you may be asking? Well let’s let the Word of God answer that question this morning. In (2 Corinthians 5:21) we read this, “ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Just think about that for a moment! God the Father made God the Son, who knew no sin, to be sin, wow! And God the Father did that so that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Praise the Lord, God almighty, what a loving God we Christians have!! You know when I am mindful of the love of God, I am overcome with a desire to walk with Him. Do you have a desire to walk with God this morning? Hear ye the word of God, “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:24) “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3) “ He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6) But now, just what does it mean to, “walk with God?” The word walking speaks of the regularity, of moving at a certain pace. Or in other words, moving in a fixed, unvarying, or predictable pattern. Now when it comes to walking with God, many of us Christians want to run ahead of Him, don‘t we? Others lag behind. Folks the Word of God is telling us that we need to move in harmony with Jesus Christ. We need to stay close to Him and we must make a continual commitment to do so He who not only professes to known Jesus Christ, but also that he has communion with him, and abides in his favor, should prove the truth of his profession by walking as Christ walked, living a life of devotion and obedience to God. Caring, compassionate, and generous to his neighbor. Is not this how Christ walked? Are not we Christians to follow the example He left us and walk as he walked? Folks to be in Christ, means to be converted to the Christian faith, and to have received the remission of sins. Amen? And to abide in Christ, is to continue in that state of salvation, growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen? But what does this mean in practice? How do we do this? What does it look like to “keep in step with the Spirit of God?” It means we take time for the things of God. It means that when we get up in the morning, we take time to read the Bible. If we neglect the Word of God, it will show in our lives. Abiding in Jesus also means that we spend time in fellowship with God’s people. Come on now about a amen here? Allow me to close this devotion by saying, Make time for the things of God. Don’t wait for that time to simply materialize, Oh no, we must deliberately carve out room in our schedules. Do what you need to do because these things are essential to spiritual growth, to abiding with God, and to bearing spiritual fruit. How about a amen here or maybe an ouch? Folks this walk with God is a walk, that will bring indescribable richness to your daily life. No doubt about it!!!!!! Loving You In Jesus Christ, Pastor David McGee
