Well here is the jar surgery consult update: According to the - TopicsExpress

Well here is the jar surgery consult update: According to the doctor, I am a candidate for surgery. The doctor said outright that my problem is not cosmetic--take that insurance companies who would not let me get surgery at 17!--but is going to require some testing before a course of action can be determined because he suspects that my jaw may have decided to start growing again. This would not be a serious concern if I were still 17, but at 25 this is an indicator of an abnormality. Therefore, I am going to have to have a CT scan and a bone scan to see what exactly is going on. If my jaw is still growing the surgery will be done to correct the shifting and stop the growth; if I have stopped growing the surgery will simply be corrective in nature. Either way there is a strong possibility that I am going to be in braces for the THIRD time in my life and have surgery performed on both my top and lower jaws in the near future. I am feeling a mixture of emotions today because I thought for certain that I was going to be told that surgery was not an option and that I would have to live the rest of my life with shifting teeth and a jawline that protrudes to the right. I was preparing myself for having to battle my own demons and work on accepting (or trying to overlook) something that makes me extremely self-conscious. Now I am looking forward to the possibility of seeing a face with a little more balance and discovering what is going on within my bones. Is it strange to be excited about having ones jaw likely broken, sawed, and then pinned back together?
