Well, its only a game, and Hughesy, he was a pretty decent player - more grit than technical mastery. He was no Bradman, and he may never have been remembered for his cricketing abilities. Im sure he was a pretty decent bloke too, a good country lad, and perfectly flawed like the rest of us. Talk of him being a future great is now just speculation. But on cricket grounds across Australia this weekend, indeed, across the cricket playing world players young and old, of all classes, will be playing in this mans honour. In some way or another, theyll carry out a tribute for a bloke who they might not have even met, or heard of. Strange, yet beautiful, how something so seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of things can unite so many people in heart and spirit in such a profound manner. In life, everything matters, everythings is important to someone. Sure - compared to a situation like Tibet, or Iraq, this is no reason to mourn - just dont tell his Mum that.
