Well, joe didnt win instrumentalist of the year but thats ok. What an honor to be nominated AND make it to the final five. A wonderful pianist who will be 90 in June and still playing gigs won the title. Lucy Lucy Dean Record is deserving of such a title and we love her to death. We made so many new friends and joe played with some AMAZING young people. My goodness! Joe met several young guitarists he would love to mentor! Their rhythm guitar skills rivaled a seasoned professional. AND THE WERE GIRLS! The 14 year old fiddler was something else and just now getting into Western swing. AND A GIRL! The vocals on these young people were right on. The energy on stage was contagious. AND THEY WERE ALL GIRLS! I take it back. Coby Carters band was also amazing. He sings, plays fiddle and is also a teen. So very proud to see these kids be able to play any song thrown at them. Saw a 9 Year old trumpet player (boy). Oh, and theg grownups werent to shabby either. Hehehe. We loved every single minute of our trip. But now, back to reality. Lol
