Well not even sure how to define this weekend so I will just give a recap... Headed to WERA Cycle Jam leading in points in one class and second in another so I knew I needed to place well but most importantly leave Atlanta crash free. Practice on Friday went without a problem and slowly got used to the incredible speeds at Road Atlanta. Saturday morning the clutch developed an issue that we finally sorted but not until Sunday morning. Took 4th and 5th on Saturday which will keep me in a first place in HWT Twins SuperStock and I am now also first in HWT SuperBike in the NorthEast and Mid-Atlantic Regions. Also got down into the 1:35s with the clutch issue. So on that front the weekend was a success. Unfortunately my teammate Kyle Alexander suffered and crash on Saturday during practice that left him in the hospital and eliminated him from competition on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the atmosphere at the track just seemed off to me all day and with issues with crashes and oil on the track the day ran extremely long. Unfortunately late in the day another crash occurred and Andy White lost his life in a race. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Also on Saturday I touched base with my mom to see how Tia was doing (Tia was/is my dog who traveled to the track with me for years before retiring from racing and living with my mom:). She is definitely a tough girl but we dont have much time left. So on Sunday morning we decided to see of we resolved the issue with the clutch and practice. The bike felt amazing and I was really moving well in practice and knew I had a few seconds that I didnt have Saturday because of the clutch. But with the whole tone of the weekend and me wanting to get home to spend time with Tia I decided to sit out the National HWT Twins race and head home early. Racing can be extremely selfish and I need to get back to Tia who was and would always be there for me. I want to thank Doug Runco Scott McCloy Jorge Fernandez and James P. Casey for coming to the track. Wish it would of been a less chaotic experience at times but thats racing. Next stop Mid-Ohio!
