Went to Cherokee today to enjoy the river. All of a sudden two small girls raft by (about age 5 or 6) screaming. No parent in sight. I was standing in the middle where it was super deep on a large bolder that reached up barely above the surface. I talked to the girls as they were passing, asking where their parent was, telling them theyd be ok. Thats when they both decided they would bail out of the raft and try sWimming to me. Well the current there is not forgiving of novice swimmers in life jackets. So they are just getting carried down the river closer to the very mild rapids but its rocky and shallow there and it would have hurt them. So I dont even think about it and dive right in. I was able to grab one girl and swim her to safety and the other girl was able to swim a few feet to shore. Then the parent comes with 2 other small children in a life vest on a tubes. These 2 girls were terrified and traumatised. Im trying to drag the one girl who refuses to stand on the rock, through the current, falling a few times myself. The parent grasped onto a branch near by close to shore but never removed herself from the raft. She made the other two girls share a raft and handed me the other one to get the girls on (as their original rafts were long gone down the river). Once I have the raft and I am helping the girls on, parent lets go and heads on down the river never getting off the raft to comfort these small girls and leaves them behind. So I finished getting them on the raft, parent still in sight and told them they would be fine just what ever you do dont get off this raft and youll eventually catch mom. I wanted to curse this dumb b out. Smdh
