Were Cain And Abel Really The First Children Born On Earth? In Genesis 4 it appears that the first child of Adam and Eve was Cain and the second, Abel. Yet Cain kills Abel and then goes to the land of Nod, where he marries a woman and has a baby. Where did Cain’s wife come from? This is sometimes used by some to discredit the Bible altogether. This is one of the great reasons for the Pearl of Great Price where we learn in Moses 5:2 that, “Eve bore unto Adam sons and daughters, and they began to multiply and to replenish the earth.” These children were born ‘before’ Cain and Abel as found in verse 16 with the birth of Cain and verse 17 with the birth of Abel. If we go by the Genesis 4 account alone, it can cause quite a bit of confusion. The Pearl of Great Price, as translated by Joseph Smith, is inspired of the Lord God and the Lord even told Joseph in Moses 4:32, “And these are the words which I spoke unto my servant Moses. See that thou show them unto no man, until I command you, except to them that believe.” This is one of the reasons why we did not have this book until these latter-day’s.
