Were. On. Vacation!! After Jimmy retired from Lockheed yesterday - TopicsExpress

Were. On. Vacation!! After Jimmy retired from Lockheed yesterday (33 years and 7 months), we felt it totally necessary that we flee the city and grace Savannah with our presence for a week. This is the end of only the first full day, but we are BEAT! Thank you, Lord, for 82 degree weather and a slight breeze. I could NEVER have stood the open-air trolley tour without that breeze! Now, the Saga of Travels. Ships of the Sea Museum is a MUST SEE if you have any interest in sailing ships or WWII era ship models. Magnificent! My feet only hurt up to my knees after that 2 hours. The Gray Line Trolley tour (we did one about 20 years ago, too) was an excellent 90 minute intro to Savannah. The ONLY thing that the man from Joisey got wrong was in saying that the Civil War started in 1860. I corrected him later (1861). Dont mess with me about historical dates or Tudor English history. Ill put you in your place! Those are the only things in life about which Im certain. That and that Jimmy Lewis loves me! I think!! hehe! After lunch at Clarys (Luthers not eating! fame from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil), we squirreled around (lost) for 20 minutes trying to find Bonaventure Cemetery (like weve never been there before during the last 7 visits to Savannah). We finally got there to see the EXPLOSION of azaleas! I am NOT exaggerating when I say that there were TONS of them in bloom. (Ill have to post the videos/pictures when I get back, because, contrary to popular belief, the download cable is NOT considered standard equipment to pack by the man in charge.) After paying homage at Johnny Mercers gravesite (required attendance), I realized that I was donating too much blood to the local no see ums and we left their food line. Those suckers are voracious!! Sorry to all of those who like the place, but Johnny Harris restaurant did NOT get a 5 star rating from Better Half for their fried chicken. But I did! Dont leave the city without trying Johnny Harris fried chicken the brochures said. Better Half was NOT impressed, hence MY 5 stars! Pralines have already been purchased (and sampled), new wedding rings bought and worn (after 42 years, we either lose or break them about every other year!), and clothes laid out for tomorrow. My only bones of contention with Better Half about retirement now has a new item on the list of one (noise level in the house; Im used to quiet, hes used to NOISE from some aircraft assembly plant). He still wants to get up daily (internal clock) at 4:50 a.m. I AINT a gonna do THAT! So, when were in a hotel room, he has to dress quietly and LEAVE for a couple of hours before Im ready to get up! Im giving him 6 months to get over getting up before dawn, then Ill start drugging him to stay asleep longer. May not wait 6 months... Tomorrow, theres more trolley hopping on and off, along with a river cruise and some shopping for souvenirs. And some local restaurant that DOESNT serve fried chicken! OH! Almost forgot!! Theres another writer in the family!! My brother, Phillip Wright, is now a published author!! Check out his first novel, Talon-- Cyborg Warrior on Amazon! We used one of our nephews picture on the cover for the cyborg (Derek Wright). So today while out and about, I got a call from one of his brothers, Nathan Wright, who said, Aunt Sissy, My universe is out of balance. Derek has a book cover and I dont. Guess the editor of the book here now has to rectify this oversight by providing a place for said nephews picture on the cover of my next several childrens books, even if he didnt get to be a warrior on the cover. He said he could lose my pride for quantity. Good boy!! And let the games begin...
