Weve just had a long discussion with our supplier and now its time to pass along the information to our Magic peeps, but I warn you, its not information youre going to want to hear. Due to the economy and the continuous downward slope the Canadian dollar is on, the price on all of the Magic cards has gone up. In some cases (like on the pre-release packs, for example), its only increased by a dollar and change but in others (like on the booster boxes, for example), its gone up by nearly 10 dollars. You can imagine what this means. Were told, and weve verified this with some other independant stores, that pre-release events have pretty much gone up by $5.00 and buy-a-box promotion prices by $10.00 across the board. Of course, weve been pre-selling tournament packs and boxes for weeks now and this information only came to us today, when we had to pay the bill for all of the pre-release packs and prize boosters. We refuse to go back and re-charge people just to adjust the pricing at this late date. Instead, there will be an increase in the pricing but were going to do it lightly. The pre-release events will stay at the $28.00 weve posted. That was a manageable increase for us - well lose some money of course, but its manageable. The box increase, however, is not. The buy-a-box promotions that weve already sold will be honoured, but the buy-a-box price is going to have to go up to $105 + tax, after a $5.00 increase. Keep in mind the increase to us is $10 a box and were only going to increase it by $5.00 to try and be as accommodating to you all as we can be. In the future, there may be more increases, if the price of the boxes to us continues to go up. Currently, the buy-a-box price is the only one we will increase because we just cant take that much of a loss - we hope you can understand. We will keep you posted if there are to be any other changes but for now, this is it. Thank you for your understanding, guys and girls!
