What Are You Seeking? Paul Ross The whole universe is one big illustration and visual experience; and as far as art goes its gobsmackingly-breathtakingly-brilliant. In fact – when it comes to the universe - there is no greater show in town. But this great art, production, engineering, architecture, and performance is just merely the canvas through which the Lord of matter and DNA has chosen to weave His masterpiece. This great canvas from which we see the colors and images as light passes through the retina of our eyes is not the image of the great artist and maestro but merely the result of His creativity. God is not in the canvas per se, nor is He trapped in the pages of a book. The religious teachers and theological experts of the day were obsessed with religious rituals and going over the finer points of Biblical interpretation - endless arguments and contentions; they were the enlightened clergy – the educated – the elite. However when Jesus stood before them they knew Him not. The biggest scandal in history happened when the professors of the Word were blind to the face of the Word’s author; Jesus looked into the faces of these men and said, You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life (John 5: 39-40). My sisters and brothers watch out for this danger in your zeal for all things religious, because when it’s all said and done – and the dust settles to the ground – these are the scriptures that testify of Him and the Holy Spirit of truth wants to lead us all to a Him – to a person – into a relationship.
