What Ive learned in 50 plus years of losing Family and Friends is someone else is always hurting much worse than I. My first experience as a young boy was watching my Mother experience the loss of her Parents. I didnt understand death, but I knew my mother was hurting terribly. 10 years later I received my first lesson on a personal level. I was 14, it was a friend of my Brothers that was killed in Vietnam. He had been around our house and hunting camp for years. Couldnt make sense of that one. 3 years later my Father, holy hell that one hurt. And so the painful side of this thing called life began. I have been terribly sad all day, But, it doesnt even come close to what Dereks brothers, parents, girl friend, buddys are experiencing. I would help carry their load if I knew how. Celebrate his life, he was one of the Good Guys
