What Vivekananda says...... Can We consider Rank-holders n other Toppers to be Best Students? Is there any relationship between Merit of a student n the Medium of Instuction that he has chosen OR the School where he sought Admission? The best student is he who has fully developed personality in all respects OR all-round development in the aspects of Head, Heart n Hands. Scoring a highest mark or Getting a Rank may prove the intellectual capacity n achievement of a student, but may NOT be a mark of ALL-ROUND DeVELOPMENT. We cannot therefore assess/ measure the standard of a student merely on the basis of his examination performance. Further, there is NO real link between Excellence of a student n Medium of Instruction or the School Attended.. His excellence is ultimately the result of Inner Developments, NOT something imposed from outside. Though it is believed that students learning through English Medium are More Intelligent, there is NO SUBSTANCE of TRUTH in this belief. Their success is not due to their superior intelligence but the atmosphere created in the Schools which is more conducive to learning due to keener interest their parents take in their education. Had the same kind of environment is created in schools where Regional Language is the Medium, if in maintaining the atmosphere n the Teachers work with spirit, devotion n diligence n parents also pay more attention to their wards education, the children in these schools too are bound to have the same level of accomplishment. ********************************************************************************************** GanoVasan…..Coppell…..18.9.2013
